Carol O’Keeffe is a gender queer independent filmmaker and activist with over two decades behind the lens. From addiction to identity, adoption to connection, her award-winning work cuts deep into social issues and questions established structures. In this presentation, Carol will break down her approach to telling authentic stories on screen, the potential of documentary work in challenging social injustice and her determination to hunt for solutions. Following Krzysztof Kieslowski’s principle "I believe the life of every person is worthy of scrutiny, containing its own secrets and dramas."

Carol is a Cork Based Film maker who focuses on the Documentary genre.
She has been making films for over twenty years. Stories that speak to her heart are the ones that call her . Social injustice and a hunt for solutions are probably the guiding principles for her work. Her Films have screened at festivals in Ireland and also internationally.
She is also a Peace Activist, a runner and writer.
