The animation industry has been going through many challenges in the last couple of years and its themes and focus seem to have stagnated. Could a different approach, a queer approach, be the solution to its problems? What does it mean to be queer and to make queer art in the industry?

Elisa Beli Borrelli (they/he)
Elisa Beli Borrelli is a Director, Visual Developer and Illustrator living in Ireland. They worked for many years as a comic book artist in Italy before relocating to Dublin to work in animation. They're currently employed at Boulder Media and they make comics, animated shorts and music in their spare time. Their work has been featured in many festivals and got published in different countries.
Niamh Bennett (they/them)
Niamh Bennett is a multidisciplinary artist, animator, and critic based in Ireland. They have worked in the animation industry for over a decade, specialising in design and layout, and are currently working with Whackala Productions. Niamh uses their art practice to explore queer erotica, mixed media, and street art. They previously co-hosted a video game podcast for many years and have appeared as a guest on several related shows to discuss popular media through a queer lens. Niamh is interested in the intersections of popular culture, technology, desire, and politics.
Nico Rylands (he/him)
Nico, also known as @capricreep, is a trans masculine 2D animator, illustrator and hound enthusiast. Graduating from BCFE in 2023, Nico has a background in educational animation - now working and studying as a digital media, marketing and communication specialist in the civil service. To sustain his passion in hand-drawn projects, he also works with the studio Beag Animations, founded by Kate Escolin and Cian Killalea - as well as his own expressive comics and illustrative works.
Darragh Herlihy (he/him)
Darragh is currently working as a senior animator in Studio Meala. He has been working in the Animation industry for over 9 years, holding a diverse range of roles including Animation supervisor, Cleanup supervisor, Lead Animator, and Senior Posing Artist. Darragh has worked in feature, TV, and short form productions for studios including Cartoon Saloon, Studio Meala, Treehouse Republic, and Studio Marguya, working for Clients including Disney+, Netflix, Apple TV, HULU, and Amazon Prime Video.
